ਹਲੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਣ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਖਟੇ ਖਾਇ ॥
Hal Beechaar Vikaar Man Hukamee Khattae Khaae ||
Contemplation is the plow, and corruption is the harvest; this is what one earns and eats, according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.
ਖਿਆਲ ਹਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਦੀ ਬੋਹਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, when one is called to give his account, he will be barren and infertile. ||1||
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਤਲਬ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਸਣੇ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
